Woodbine Racetrack is kind of unique in Canada. It’s a world class thoroughbred racetrack that also has some of the most amazing dining experiences in Toronto. On top of that there’s a not-so-mini casino with more than 3000 slots machines along with virtual poker, baccarat, roulette and more. My friends and I were looking for something new to do last Saturday and went out to Woodbine on a lark. To say we had a great time would be an understatement. Get more info about the T.O. (T.dot)
Being late November it was definitely a bit chilly to be watching the ponies from the grandstand but we toughed it out for several races. My friend Al hit on a long shot in the third race and bought the rest of us lunch in the Favourites Dining Room. We were able to keep track of the rest of the action outdoors while we ate because Favourites is built on a tier system which allows each row of tables to see over the one in front of it. The food was incredible. Way better than I imagined and made me think I need to take my girlfriend here next time I come. After we finished eating Al wanted to see if he could parlay what was left of his winnings into something bigger so we headed for the slots.
I’ve been to Vegas a few times and I have to say the slots room at Woodbine comes close to anything you’ll see in Sin City. Al actually did make a minor score with the e-roulette game that helped him recover most of what he spent on lunch for everybody. Some guys just have all the luck. By the time we left it was pretty late in the day but none of us minded. It was a great time all around and I’ll definitely be going back soon for a second go around the track.
