Some of our recent projects that are featured on eieihome.com includes Fishleigh home, this newly built, luxury custom home in the Beaches neighborhood had all its electrical wiring and lighting design done by Hotwire Power Group’s master electricians. This time around, Hana taylor, Hotwire Power Group CEO is back on Marc and Mandy show to share with everyone the trendiest and most magnificent in lighting, both interior and exterior.

The latest in landscape lighting

Compared to living room lighting, kitchen lighting and bathroom lighting, landscape lighting is often overlooked by homeowners due to the fact that it is located outside of their living space. Today, let’s dig deeper into how landscape lighting is also a crucial part in making your home more appealing and well-lit.

Hanna shared some great tips on how accent lighting can be used for exterior purposes:

“On the wall (of the studio), LED track lighting allows you to create art pieces. As we all know, lighting is also a form of art, and this wall lighting is a form of that.
Lighting selection is very important for your home, and your electricians need to discuss with you about your vision and master-plan for your space.”

After brightening up your space with the main types of lighting: ambient, task and accent lighting. It is now time to add other lighting fixtures to help amplify the look and character of your house.
One of the ways to do this, is to light up the staircases. This part of the interior lighting plan is often overlooked as they are not as prominent, but there is a wide range of staircase lighting options to choose from as Hanna explained.

Another essential element in wiring one’s home is the operating system. As the technology in home lighting has advanced much over the years, installing an automation system is no longer an unfamiliar choice.

“An automation home system can help you control the light, blinds, surround sound, alarms, security, … just by touching and adjusting from your keypad. This system makes it convenient for you to control most aspects of your home. The automation system has to be pre-planned before the installation.”

“Another feature of custom home that often get overlooked is the switches and the cover plates. There is a plethora of choices available upon request, or you can ask the electrician to design one that best fits for your home. The cover plates can match your wallpaper, your cabinetry, depends on what look you are going for.”

Pot lighting Redesigned

A great feature for spotlighting is to go outside of the box of the basic white trim. These recessed lighting can be used to accent and illuminate your home and specific areas. There are many alternatives to traditional pot lighting in a box.

“One of the options that we have is the modular fixture that holds many moveable potlights, this allows you to customize the lightened area of your space.”
